Volunteering and Giving Back by Gail Chapman

Foster Park is a state arboretum designed to demonstrate a variety of ornamental and shade trees. Each one is individually identified in the park.

It is an inviting place to meditate, stroll, and maybe play a game of catch or a little soccer. It has also become a site for weddings. And in the last few years, it has become the site for York
High School Prom photo sessions. In the winter, —you can see the kids heading to the park for sledding.

Foster Park was named after Hub Foster a long- time civic leader in York. The arboretum was dedicated during the September 1992 Yorkfest celebration. The park is over 20 years old, and
with that comes maintenance and upkeep. Some of it was getting overgrown. Our team at Coldwell Banker asked the city if we could help. So, we donated an evening of working in the park in May. We focused on some overgrown pine trees that were beginning to take over the sidewalk.

Volunteering is a great way to let the community know we are not just selling houses; but giving back to the community in which we live.
